Eco Council
The Eco Council aims to meet every fortnight with Mrs Fairs and Mrs Noon. The Council is made up of representatives from each year group from Year 2 to Year 6.
At Broke Hall we want all children to take responsibility for the future of their environment. Pupils take key-roles in decision-making and participate in reducing the environmental impact of our school. Through being more aware we hope to extend our children’s learning beyond the classroom and develop responsible attitudes both at home and in the wider community.
We do this by being part of the Eco-Schools Network. Eco-schools is a global programme engaging 19.5 million children across 67 countries, making it the largest educational programme on the planet. For over 25 years Eco-Schools has been empowering children to drive change and improve their environmental awareness.
In recent years our Eco Council have helped to bring about improvements to school in a number of ways:
- developing the school allotment
- taking part in The Big Plastic Count
- organising a Christmas jumper sale
- litter picking
